The House of Initia Nova
Our Vicar, Fr Alex (Known as Dom John-Aelred in Community) is a professed member of the House of Initia Nova, a Benedictine Community of the Anglican Church.
The House of Initia Nova is an order of vowed religious and oblates in the Benedictine tradition, founded in the United States, with members now in the United Kingdom and Ireland, ordained and lay in the Anglican Communion. The Community is open to all who have reached their 18th birthday, are celibate, married or single.

WHAT DO WE DO?
Members join together as often as possible for communal prayer and worship; and seek to live out, under the guidance of the Holy Rule, the Benedictine spirit in day-to-day life. |
HOW DO WE LIVE?
We live under the three traditional monastic vows of Stability, Conversion of Life, and Obedience. |
HOW DO WE DO IT?
Whilst living a missional and uncloistered form of monasticism, our lives are dedicated to ‘seeking the face of God’ through the ‘opus Dei — the recitation of the Divine Office, Sacred reading, and study.

WHAT IS GOD CALLING YOU TO?
Let it be said that all Christians are called to be heirs of a royal household, ministers and servants to all. All are called to live intentionally our Baptismal Vows. But a few have been called to live a more consecrated life, with extraordinary implications not only for their soul, but the souls of all whom God has envisioned and created. Our prayers may be the catalyst which can change the course of history.
Religious life is unique, with special responsibilities that extend way beyond our imagination and comprehension. Religious life is about entering into a process of transformation; to become more and yet at the same time less to the point that nothing exists but your soul and God.
Note: For those in the UK and Ireland this means meeting with the British and Irish Brethren for an extended period, as if we were at the Motherhouse.

For us at All Saints Twickenham, the life of the House of Initia Nova is rooted in the worshipping life and witness of the parish. They are one and the same. They are not seperate entities, one feeds the other. We aim to be a praying presence in the heart of Twickenham and wherever we reside.
